The coronial inquest into the disappearance of year-old Daniel at Woombye on December 7, , yesterday heard chilling details of key "persons of interest", codenamed P1 and P2. Detective Senior Constable Ross Hutton told the inquest that the man who became P1 in the investigation had been identified after indicating to police he knew what had happened to Daniel.
Sen-Constable Hutton said P1 made the admission in "an emotional state" as he led police to his victim's grave on the Sunshine Coast in The inquest, before State Coroner Michael Barnes, was told P1- now in jail for manslaughter - claimed a man called "Adam Andrews" was responsible for Daniel's abduction and murder. He said P1 alleged he and "Andrews" were pimps in the Valley and Andrews' motive was to "use young Daniel as a prostitute". The inquest heard P1 had claimed to have seen the boy "affected by drugs" on December 12 and 13 of and that on December 14 or 15 had been present when Daniel's body had been disposed of in the Brisbane River, near the BP refinery.
Sen-Constable Hutton said that police had gone to great lengths to find the "Adam Andrews" implicated but were unsuccessful. Guy should have been locked away forever. Instead he is walking free to re-commit his crimes. A guy that does stuff like this. P7 led the boy into the bush and lifted him on to an overturned car in a paddock. P7 left the boy to die. I can just see there being mistrialls galore possible to the point where he may never be given a fair trial. Why are the police searching a specific area for remains again? Have they come into some more information? Courier mail is reporting this with photos. Might be a Judge Only Trial. Like they had for that other pedo Ferguson. I wonder if he has made some kind of confession and they are searching for the body. The girlfriend didn't know of his past until the cops rocked around to her house to take the child away. In past cases against him it wasn't until he was confronted with DNA evidence he confessed. If they have no confession, no body, apparently his car was impounded and searched 2 weeks after Daniel's disappearance so they obviously found nothing there.

The whole concept of criminal law errs on the side of the accused. It is preferable for guilty men to go free than 1 innocent man be convicted. This goes even for pedos. He should still be in jail from his previous crimes, no idea why he's free. P7 Raped a 6 year old boy in bushland and left him to die. Poor kid stumbled into a petrol station several days later naked and bleeding. This got him 7 years but he was parolled after 4. He later got 14 months for molesting a 7 year old.

Except it wasn't his first run in, he was actually on community service. Then the second offence was in a NT trailer park. To say he had "left him to die" was an understatement. His eyes had haemorrhaged and his lung was punctured, injuries doctors said were caused by strangulation. He was so battered the policewoman who found him thought he had been run over by a car.
He flat out denied that attack until they had DNA evidence. And it is not like he is reformed But P7 says that he'd participated in a rehabilitation program for sex offenders and that his offending had finished and that also the year-old was not in his target age range which was victims aged six to eight.
And then describes it as 6 to 8! Everyone has to let their standards slip eventually I guess. Annie Guest who works at the courts. I can't believe he got less then 6 years total for previous efforts. Do you agree that these are all faults of sentencing? I don't think the guy deserves to be wrongfully convicted of murder because the Australian judicial system is wacky I don't disagree, but I also think that a failure of the legal system here doesn't excuse all the calling for blood of a so far innocent man.

I know what you mean billy but I don't think the word "innocent" can used to describe this person. I am sure there are plenty of other repeat offenders walking the streets. So we can't take out our frustration on this one person.
BUT, he is still a sick person and I really don't care what happens to him. People claim to have seen two ppl near Danial at the bustop. I wonder if the the other person was a woman, this guys GF at the time. Shes come forward and told them where the body is? I cant help wondering why danial would get into a car with a freak like that. He might do it if there was a woman in the car though.

From the courtroom sketches though the guy looks a bit like Jesus. It's not secret squirrel anything. Most of it is reported testemony from the inquest.

The media are currently in Court arguing that this guys name should be released because other victims may come forward that could contribute information to the case. The bus that was due to take Daniel to the Plaza had broken down about m from where Daniel was waiting, and so a replacement bus had been sent out in its place. At pm the replacement bus approached Daniel, who at this time had been waiting for about 45 minutes. The driver signalled that there would be another bus only minutes behind and that bus would pick him up.
Witnesses later would say they saw a man waiting for the bus with Daniel. That man would later be known to police and to the public as paedophile Brett Peter Cowan. Perhaps it was out of frustration as Daniel had been waiting for so long, but he agreed to the lift.
Cowan would then drive Daniel 30 minutes in another direction toward a secluded farm, bordered by bushland. When she went down there, Denise saw the broken down bus being put onto a tow truck. She was beginning to feel worried at this stage and asked her husband Bruce to go to the Plaza to see if Daniel was on the last bus the pm bus.
When pm came around she said they knew instinctively something was wrong. After doing their own search, at the Plaza Denise and Bruce decided it was time to report Daniel as missing. Bruce would later say that he felt more confident that the police investigation was underway after speaking to Sergeant Davison, who after calling Sunbus quickly established that Daniel was seen in the company of an older male at the bus stop.

Some would give different descriptions of vehicles they believe they saw Daniel in, ranging from a blue car to a white one. Composite sketches were drawn up of what this man looked like in an attempt to locate him. All of them provided alibis and none could be proven to have been the man at the bus stop. This was the biggest reward that had been offered at this time and yielded about 8, calls to Crimestoppers.
More years would go by with no news on what had happened to Daniel. The money went unclaimed — the private donation would only be on offer until May The police were finding nothing but dead ends. They had interviewed more than 10, people at this point and felt no closer to finding out what happened to Daniel.
